Abstract

.Mentoring is a part of teacher professional development efforts where mentor empowers mentee in an equal and collegial, not a top-down relation. The mentor’s task is to motivate, encourage, and facilitate the mentee to be reflective and able to do self-improvement. To serve that purpose, the mentor conducts classroom observation and gives the mentee feedback in a good manner and harmonious relation. This mentoring task is done either by trainers to make sure the teacher trainees implement the training input in their practices, or by supervisors, school principals, or senior teachers. Therefore, a mentor training needs to be conducted, so that the supervisors are not too busy dealing only with administrative matters, and the principals only with managerial tasks, but they should also observe teachers’ classroom practices and give post-teaching feedback. The training projects, moreover, need to be complemented with some post-training mentoring activities
