Abstract

Departing from the data of the Malang Regency BPBD (Regional Disaster Management Agency) which states that the forests in Malang Regency are getting thinner and only about 40% of the total forests in Malang Regency remain. Youth along with Sukodono Village community who are members of the API PRB (Climate Change Adaptation and Disaster Risk Reduction) forum Sukodono Village that was formed was facilitated by APIK Regional East Java and PATTIRO Malang held nature preservation in Desa Sukodono which still countless forest eroded. So that the forest and nature of Sukodono Village remain in top condition does not endanger the surrounding villages. Because in the rainy season the village of Sukodono will be a big contributor to water discharge to the downstream village.
This research is a qualitative research. Research using this qualitative method collects primary and secondary data obtained from several sources, then data obtained through documentation, observation and interviews conducted in writing and then analyzed descriptively. The conclusion from the results of this study found the role of youth in preserving nature in the village of Sukodono, Dampit, Malang. From the results of research that has been done, it was found that (1) youth activities in the API PRB forum in preserving nature in Sukodono Village applied the ecocentrism theory from Arne Ness. (2) The strategies adopted by youth in the API PRB forum are environmental socialization, coffee plant cultivation, and demonstration plots or demonstration plots. The strategy adopted by the youth in the API PRB forum succeeded in attracting the interest of the community to preserve nature. Because preserving nature starts from the simplest and easiest thing to do and has more value to yourself and nature.
