Abstract

There are still two general views on women's leadership in society. The first states that men are women's leaders according to what Islam teaches and the other view is that women can also be leaders. This is based on the fact that the adjective of leadership does not refer to sex, but to a social construct called gender. These differences can be understood from how every human being understands the concept of leadership based on his experience and knowledge.The topic of this research is, women's leadership in Istibsyaroh's view. This study uses a phenomenological approach Edmund Husserl, which states that a phenomenon occurs because of two things namely, awareness and human experience in understanding a phenomenon. This awareness and experience can only be understood from the point of view of man himself. The methods used in the research are observation, interviews, and documentation. In the process of data analysis, this research uses the perspective of Qirā'ah mubādalah. From the results of this study, it was found that Istibsyaroh in understanding and interpreting women's leadership, is gender responsive. This is caused by several factors, among others; self-awareness in understanding women's rights, experience and knowledge in the science of Qur'anic interpretation. The tendency to understand the interpretation of the Qur'an is in line with the thoughts of contemporary commentators such as Al-Sya'rāwi, Fazlur Rahman, and Amina Wadud. As for her opinion regarding women's leadership, namely a leadership or someone who becomes a leader must have superior qualities in the form of integrity, purpose, an exemplary and trustworthy attitude. So that in Islam both men and women can act as leaders. It does not give a superior position to men which can give an inferior position to women
