Abstract

Students are required to produce a thesis to complete the undergraduate education program (S1). These demands make students experience stress, especially for those entering the advanced semester (semester ninth and above). Stress can have an impact on the mental and physical health of students and even become the cause of various diseases. According to previous research, listening to Murottal Al-Quran can relieve stress. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of listening to Murottal Al-Quran in reducing stress in final year students who are working on a thesis. Respondents used in this study were 30 final year students studying at public or non-Islamic colleges. Based on the Wilcoxon data analysis used in this study, the Posttest–Pretest results of the experimental group obtained a significant value of 0.005, which means that if the Asymp.Sig value <0.05, the working hypothesis (ha) is accepted. While the Posttest–Pretest control group obtained a significant value of 0.154, which means that if the Asymp.Sig value > 0.05 then the null hypothesis (h0) is accepted. This means that listening to Murottal Al Quran can reduce stress on final year students who are working on thesis.
