Abstract

This thesis discusses the strategy for increasing the professional competence of PAI teachers in the independent curriculum at SMA Negeri 15 Surabaya. This research is motivated by the importance of the professional competence of PAI teachers in improving the quality of education to motivate students. However, not all teachers can apply their competencies in learning such as digital competencies that must be owned by professional teachers today. This study aims to determine the professional competence of PAI teachers in the independent curriculum, to find out the strategies used by PAI teachers to increase professional competence in the independent curriculum, to find out the inhibiting factors for the professional competence of PAI teachers in the independent curriculum, and to find out the solutions that can be obtained in overcoming factors inhibiting the professional competence of PAI teachers in the independent curriculum. This study uses qualitative research methods with case studies. Data collection techniques used are observation, interviews, and documentation. The primary data used in this study came from in-depth interviews with school principals, vice principals in the curriculum section, PAI educators and several students at SMA Negeri 15 Surabaya. while data analysis techniques are carried out through the process of data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study show that in the strategy for increasing the professional competence of PAI teachers in the independent curriculum at SMA Negeri 15 Surabaya there are advantages and disadvantages, as the drawback is that some PAI teachers still do not fully understand the professional competence of teachers in the independent curriculum, one of which is in the use of technology. This can hinder the learning process. On the other hand, there are advantages, namely by maximizing training through seminars or in-house training to understand a differentiated independent curriculum. And there is also a Friday Sinau program to review and evaluate learning outcomes. with these programs, teachers have expertise in managing learning, the best practice that can be enjoyed from increasing this competency is by compiling learning programs which will later be used to create their own teaching modules by the MGPS team of PAI teachers at SMA Negeri 15 Surabaya in collaboration with the team MGPS PAI teacher at SMA Negeri 10 Surabaya whose module has an ISBN.
