Abstract

This paper is to harmonize the gap of mechanism thought between the scientific approach and Islamic education. By reviewing the literature, found three bridges to harmonize the mechanism of scientific approach which is rational empirical and Islamic education which is supra–rational meta-empirical.
First, the integration between reason and revelation. Relying on sense is a reflection of selfishness and arrogance, impres–sing how arrogant the human having brain is. Though the degree level of intelligence can not penetrate certain problems that are transcendent. In this case intuition is necessary to solve these problems.
Second, the interdependence of reason and revelation. In the traditional of Islamic thought, knowledge is built on the cooperation of reason and intuition approach has limits which is finally completed by intuition that are gifts or favors. While the provision of intuition is still not well organized, thus reason is required to systematize the knowledge.
Third, creating ulual-Bab. The instruction of thinking about all creations of Allah in the space and in the earth through His law in the al-Qur’an means that science is a way to approach the truth of God. The word fakkara in QS. Ali ‘Imran [3]: 189-190 is, often translated to reflect or reflection. In Indonesian language this word means contemplation. Contemplation has to balanced with dhikir, because when reason can not express the truth, so the faith (dhikir) will provide justification towards the real truth. While tashakkur in QS. Al-Nah}l [16]: 114, means utilizing favors and Allah gifts with a modern sense, so that the blessing of Allah is increating.
