Abstract

This study aimed to see mainstreaming gender agenda or Gender Mainstreaming (PUG) in Islamic educational institutions in Pasuruan. There are two basic educational institutions that become the object of study here, namely MI and SD Muhammadiyah Wali Songo in Gempol Pasuruan, where the first is a madrasah affiliated with Nahdlatul Ulama, the latter being under the auspices of the Muhammadiyah. PUG agenda here viewed from two domains : the foundation of education implementation process (vision, mission, policies and institutional) and applications in the field (gender relations in environmental portraits of teachers and gender relations in the curriculum). The device is used as a knife theoretical analysis for the read data is gender theories, especially the patriarchal ideology. Patriarchal ideology is used as a reader to see the rift that occurred between theory and practice. Could be conceptually, PUG plan has been very good, but because patriarchal values still be the dominant value nirsadar incubate in each individual, the gender relations that occur still shows subordination of women. Based on field research conducted by the authors resulted in interesting findings that gender equality in education in MI Wali Songo and outline the SD Muhammadiyah showed similarities that male dominance over women turned out to be very strong, despite the theoretical tries to keep implementation of equality and equity between men and women but in a practical level is not easy to implement. In terms of the curriculum in these two institutions appear strong dominance primarily when implementing Islamic material, for example, when held alert PHBI (Ceremonial Great Day of Islam) it stands to reason that that would convey the material is a man's own material even more inclined about existence of men than women. When entering the realm of the vision and mission in the two institutions have emerged that the vision and mission objectives to be achieved even at two educational institutions that is wanted to make the regeneration forward into personal faith and the master of science and expertise/skills that students can make "survive". But in actual use in the field found that regeneration was "stressing" over to the boys so that subordinate female students, but the reality on the ground shows that the more excel in academics are more inclined to women. Gender relations in the field of education who also happens inequities, this is due to various factors including the factor leader / leaders or policy makers in the two institutions.
