Abstract

This study aims to analyze and compare the quality of class IX Madratsah Tsanawiyah Arabic textbooks published by the Ministry of Religion and Erlangga, based on Rusydi Ahmad Thuaimah's point of view with 7 assessment aspects, namely: 1) basis of book preparation, 2) book content, 3) language skills (four maharats), 4) learning methods, 5) exercises and assessments, 6) companion materials, 7) printed books. The analysis of Arabic language test books which are still general in nature is the problem behind this research. This study uses a mixed method, namely quantitative methods and qualitative descriptive methods to analyze Arabic-language books. The data in this study are in the form of words or sentences in Arabic books in semester IX at high schools, but data classification requires research tools. The data source for this research is Rusydi Ahmad Thaaimah's theory. Documentary method was used for data collection in this study. The steps performed are 1) data selection, 2) data classification, 3) presentation of results, 4) review of results, 5) conclusion of evidence results. The results of the study were: (1) The overall percentage of Arabic books published by the Ministry of Religious Affairs using the Rusydi Ahmad Thaimah scoring tool was 70%, which means 'good'. (2) Percentage of the whole of Arabic books published by Erlangga using the Rusydi Ahmad Thaaimah evaluation tool is 84% which means very good. Judging from the total percentage results, Arabic textbooks published by Erlangga are superior to Arabic textbooks published by the Ministry of Religion in terms of accompanying material, training and assessment as well as book printing. In terms of book arrangement and content, these two books are of equal quality.
