Abstract

The style of life that today's increasingly global integration as well as the potential to cause disintegration of social life. On the one hand, globalization leads to both at the level of interdependence between human consciousness and praxis of life, while on the other hand, globalization has also resulted in e-strengthening of primordial sentiments of religion and ethnicity in public spaces. As a form of formal engineering of the mind and behavior of children and society, Islamic education paradigm is being tested for their ability to respond to and solve this problem both in national and world level. In this context the paradigm of Islamic education is challenged to redefine the formulation of the paradigm: does the discourse of science or religious discourse or discourses available alternatives? But whatever the choice, the second paradigm has serious implications for the philosophy and practice of Islamic education. This paper, in addition to elaborate on the challenges facing the contemporary paradigm of Islamic education visà- vis the reality of pluralism also elaborated on the consequences and sideeffect of the discourse on the second option and look for the possibility of an alternative discourse of Islamic education paradigm. Thus, expected to be born a paradigm of Islamic education is not only true to the roots of philosophical, historical, and cultural traditions of the Muslims but also remain open to positive values from the outside.
