Abstract

This article aims to find a madrasah innovation for sustainable development (EfSD) which can carry the message of sustainability to the values of resource, environmental, social and cultural rights. Although currently underestimated madrasah. EfSD can teach morality to humankind and always be careful in any activity pertaining to the environment, and indeed these values must be inculcated from the children in the Islamic elementary schools (MI). The use of natural resources for the development not only focuses on short-term economic, but also should emphasize the aspect of sustainability, equity and efficiency, while also preserving the nation's customs and traditions that began to be eroded due to modernization. Innovation for sustainable development madrasah curriculum emphasizes learning by integrating between the values of sustainable living by the values of Islam. The research was conducted in 2 (two) madrasah that Islamic state elementary schools and Islamic elementary schools of Ma’arif Giriloyo in Yogyakarta and has been innovating for sustainable development, on the basis of local potential that exists around the madrasah. The research method used was descriptive qualitative research methods. The results of this study indicate that (1) the development of innovative learning paradigm of sustainable development must comply with the talents of students, which can be done by developing a curriculum KTSP (curriculum level of the education) and integrating with the socio-cultural potential in the madrasah (2) the preservation of social values culture to be a basis for sustainable development paradigm in the contextualization madrasah Islamic values into the subjects taught at the madrasah, (3) innovations towards sustainable development paradigm varies for each of the madrasah, as based on local potentials that exist in each madrasah, (4).Implementation of sustainable evelopment must be based madrasas as a whole (holistic), by combining all the components in the madrasah. Innovation is then expected to be guaranteed the realization of sustainable Islamic paradigm in formal education, for the sake of a sustainable living environment between generations.
