Abstract
Motivation is one of the crucial factors in teaching and learning process for students. In the field of learning motivation is essential to success. In this case without motivation, success will be hard to achieve. It is time for the teacher, as facilitator to show their ability to facilitate their students by creating, improving, and implementing teaching aid. Based on this phenomenon, having access to appropriate learning should lead students to have good motivation in learning English. Practicing teaching with various classroom activities will stimulate students to respond the material. Moreover, various types of activities service the needs and interest of people. This study principally uses classroom action research. This study is conducted to know how far students' motivation in learning English by providing various classroom activities. This study involves the researcher as the teacher and another English teacher as the observer. Here the researcher also observes the classroom situation and condition. This study used descriptive qualitative method to describe the finding result of the research data. The data that used in this study is observation, questionnaire, and field notes. The result and discussion were described in descriptive way. Based on the analysis result of each cycles, the researcher found some point in this study. The researcher concluded that by providing various classroom activities were useful to increase students' motivation in learning English. By providing various classroom activities, the students could be enthusiastic and active in the class. They express their own ideas well, and give good response or opinion during the class. Moreover they were enjoyed in teaching and learning process, it promotes the students' motivations in learning English. Besides, the result of each cycles showed the significant improvement. Students' motivation always increases in each cycle. Therefore it could be said that by providing various classroom activities can increase students' motivation in learning English.
