Abstract
Testing and teaching are closly interrelated since testing determine the achievement of the objective of education. It means after doing their materials that students taught, the teacher needs to measure the student ability by doing a test. After getting a test, the teacher will know how far their students' master the lesson and what parts are difficult for them. This thesis is studied about analysis of the test items in Engl ish Tryout Test for UN 20 I 0/20 I I published by Diknas Surabaya. The writer focuses on problems about the face valid ity and the content valid ity of the test items in English try-out test for UN 20 I 0/201 1 published by Diknas Surabaya. This thesis uses descriptive methodology. Because it will describe the quality of the test items in English try-out test for UN 20 I 0/201 1 published by Diknas Surabaya and another factors that could be determine this test is a good test or not. Also to measure the valid ity, the writer using a checklist as the instrument. The result of this study, After analyzing the the face validity, the writer gets the result that English try-out test items for UN 20 I 0/201 1 published by DIKNAS Surabaya is proper to conduct to the student. For the content val id ity, the writer gets the result that the content validity for instance the writer found the result that many test items in test items in the test are appropriate with the SKL. From the explanation about the appropriateness of the test, English try-out test items for UN 20 I 0/201 1 published by DIKNAS Surabaya has high content valid ity because from the whole questions ( I 00%), 82% is appropriate with the SKL
