Abstract

Self-efficacy is the one of psychological factor which has the important role in improving student writing achievement. The aim of this research is to know whether “Dialogue journal improve students’ writing self-efficacy in teaching writing. In conducting this study, researcher uses Quai-Experimental design by non equivalent pretest-posttest. The subject of this research is X IPA 4 as experimental group while X IPS 1 as control group. Then, SPSS 20 version is used to analyze the data by doing normality test, homogeneity test and T-test. The result of the research showed that dialogue journal is an effective method in teaching writing. It was evidenced by the result of statistical computation which revealed that the level of significance (0.000) is less than T-table, the level of significance ˂ t –table, (0.000, α = 0.05 and df= 25 ). So, the null hypothesis is rejected and alternative hypothesis is accepted, it means that dialogue journal can improve students’ writing self-efficacy.
