Abstract

The writing of this thesis is compiled using historical research methods, namely Heuristics (source collection), Verification (source criticism), Interpretation (source interpretation) and Historiography (historical writing). Historical approach to the approach of Sociology. In addition, the author uses the theory of social institutions and the theory of Continuity and Change.From the results of the research that has been done, this study can be concluded that (1) On July 18, 1966 the Surabaya MSA Regional Conference was held and the appointment of Mr. Nuh Mu'ti as the first chairman, the presence of the MSA in Surabaya was intended as a place for Muhammadiyah students in the city of Surabaya in safeguarding and continuing the ideals of Muhammadiyah and none other as a form of Awareness, religious nature and inter-brotherhood among Persyarikatan, then making the religious factor of Muhammadiyah Surabaya students Ghirah in preaching amar ma'ruf nahi mungkar (2). The development of RL MSA Surabaya in the 2011-2017 AD period was a significant development because in that year the Surabaya RL MSA had a very positive impact on students in the city of Surabaya especially in the shutter of Surabaya's youth communities (3). Inhibiting factors and supporters in this MSA is a challenge for the current MSA of Surabaya in maintaining its existence as a progressive student organization.
