Abstract

In this study, the researcher focuses on one of the literary works of Dan Brown entitled Deception Point. There are conflicts that must be faced by the main character of this novel. But in this study, the researcher discusses the external conflict. This study uses the qualitative descriptive method to draw a description about revealing political conspiracy through conflict in the novel. The researcher uses some theories: new criticism, conflict, and secondary theory about conspiracy. This study tries to reveal mostly about the conspiracy through the conflict in the novel. There are several characters involved in the conflict, but Rachel’s character becomes the researcher’s center of discussion. She is struggling to reveal the conspiracy created by William Pickering. William Pickering is NRO’s director. He is person which conspiracy plan. The researcher concluded that Rachel fight to reveal political conspiracy through the conflict that occurred. This shows that Rachel struggle to survive all the attacks that she faced was the way to uncover the truth. Dalam studi ini peneliti berfokus pada salah satu karya sastra dari Dan Brown yang berjudul Deception Point. Ada beberapa konflik yang harus dihadapi oleh karakter utama, tetapi dalam penelitian ini peneliti hanya berdiskusi tentang konflik eksternal. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif untuk menarik deskripsi tentang konspirasi politik yang terungkap melalui konflik dalam novel. Peneliti menggunakan: new criticism, konflik, dan teori pendukung tentang konspirasi. Penelitian ini mencoba untuk mengungkapkan sebagian besar tentang konspirasi melalui konflik dalam novel. Ada beberapa karakter yang terlibat dalam konflik, tetapi karakter Rachel menjadi pusat bagi peneliti pada diskusi. Dia berjuang untuk mengungkap konspirasi yang dibuat oleh William Pickering. William Pickering adalah direktur NRO. Dia adalah orang yang merencanakan konspirasi. Peneliti menyimpulkan bahwa Rachel berjuang untuk mengungkapkan konspirasi politik melalui konflik yang terjadi. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa perjuangan Rachel untuk bertahan hidup dari semua serangan yang dia hadapi adalah cara untuk mengungkap kebenaran.
