Abstract

The research entitled "Problematics in siri Marriage: Phenomenological Studies of Students at the State Islamic University of Sunan Ampel Surabaya" is research that answers three problem formulations, namely: how is the necessity of students at the State Islamic University of Sunan Ampel Surabaya in a siri marriage?, what are the needs of students at the State Islamic University of Sunan Ampel Surabaya in a siri marriage?, and how is the responsibility of the students of the State Islamic University of Sunan Ampel Surabaya in a siri marriage?. This is field research with the qualitative research method that uses Husserl's phenomenology to explore the deepest meaning of students regarding the phenomenon being studied. The findings of this study are participants who perform siri marriage have fulfilled their obligations that fulfilling the pillars of marriage according to the Kompilasi Hukum Islam, that is: prospective husband, prospective wife, marriage guardian, two witnesses, consent and kabul, and there are no things that prohibit marriage. Their needs in siri marriages are to stay away from adultery, easy in worship to seek Allah's rida, save money, maintain the good name of the family, and not for polygamy. The responsibilities that must be fulfilled by participants who carry out siri marriages are registering their marriage, fulfilling their responsibilities as husband and wife, and announcing their marriage. Suggestions from this research are to students who have done siri marriage to make their marriages official and to the campus of the State Islamic University of Sunan Ampel to intensify education about marriage so that an understanding of marriage as a whole can be conveyed and reduce the potential for student siri marriage.
