Abstract

Competition between the rice milling industries in Karanggeneng District,Lamongan Regency is indeed troubling, especially for one of the UD Lima Jaya rice milling industries which has been established since the 1970s. New competitors with no less good product quality and the same target consumers can make UD Lima Jaya lose in the competition. The author will identify internal factors (strengths and weaknesses) and external factors (opportunities and threats) at UD Lima Jaya to be able to create a strategy to increase industrial competitiveness for UD Lima Jaya. The author chooses SWOT analysis and QSPM analysis in making strategy, because it is expected that UD Lima Jaya can know the sequence of strategies that must be prioritized in order to be competitive with its competitors. This study aims to determine the internal factors as well as external factors in the rice milling industry at UD Lima Jaya. Apart from that, this study also aims to determine the strategy in increasing the competitiveness of the UD Lima Jaya rice mill industry through SWOT analysis. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach which has the characteristic of not involving statistical processes in data processing. The data collection method used was an interview with the owner of UD. Lima Jaya, submission of questionnaires to owners, workers at UD Lima Jaya, and consumers at UD Lima Jaya, observation and documentation of research objects. The writer analyzes the data obtained by means of descriptive analysis and thematic analysis. The results of this study indicate that the UD Lima Jaya rice mill industry is in a strong condition, the best strategy that UD Lima Jaya can do to increase industrial competitiveness is to streamline the production process to obtain as much output as possible. This study provides strategic recommendations for UD Lima Jaya to immediately provide automatic rice drying machines to overcome production delays due to the season. UD Lima Jaya also needs to provide medium and low quality rice like its competitors to meet consumer needs. The most important point is to maintain and of course increase the strength you have so you can continue to grow and compete with your competitors
