The research used a qualitative approach. The qualitative technique is used to uncover inflectional and derivational affixes in the lyrics of Californication by Red Hot Chili Peppers. This research's data are English words containing inflectional and derivational affixes. The technique of collecting data is obtained by downloading song lyrics from music sites and then reading and identifying words that indicate inflectional and derivational affixes in song lyrics. After acquiring the data, the data analysis is carried out by determining and classifying words that possess inflectional and derivational affixes in song lyrics by creating data tables and compiling the word formation process. The most common process found is the verb-to-noun, which amounts to 26 words in all song lyrics. On the other hand, the type of affix inflectional commonly found in a noun's plural amounts to 29 words. The result reveals more derivational affixes than inflectional affixes, with only a slight difference value.
