Abstract

The research aims to examine the deixis in the collection of song lyrics in the album entitled "one" by maher zain. This collection of song lyrics is a religious genre of song lyrics that contains islam. In this study the author will answer the problem formulation in this research, namely (1) what are the deixis found in song lyrics on maher zain’s one album (2) what are the implied meaning based on the contextual deixis in the song lyric sentences. This research uses a qualitative descriptive approach to obtain a clear and systematic description of the phenomenon being studied. The descriptive qualitative method is a research method in the form of explanation or interpretation of the data being analyzed. Comprehensive analysis and interpretation to produce clear findings regarding the data taken by researchers makes this method suitable for use in this research. Data was collected by searching song lyrics through one of the sites on the internet. Then the data is reviewed again to ensure its correctness by listening to the song again. The data was then analyzed by identifying the type of deixis by highlighting the song lyrics with different colors. Then, the data that has been found based on the types of deixis is re-examined to find the implied meaning. The results of the study show that all types of deixis are based on alan cruse's theory (persona deixis, place deixis, time deixis, social deixis and discourse deixis) as well as the implied meanings in song lyrics that contain this deixis are found in a collection of song lyrics in maher zain's one album. In these findings, the researcher found that the use of personal deixis dominates compared to other types of deixis found in this album. By finding deixis in the collection of song lyrics, it can make it easier for researchers to find the implied meaning in the collection of song lyrics.
