Abstract

The educational background and understanding of employee accounting is an interesting and relevant topic to be researched and discussed together in a company's management structure and is an important indicator for the sustainability of company performance, especially in the financial sector. This research aims to analyze how important the role of educational background and understanding of accounting is for employees who work in the financial administration section at PT Mega Akbar Superindo, Sidoarjo Regency which operates in the outsourcing services sector. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study type of research. Case study research sheds light on insights relating to a social, individual, or organizational situation that requires thorough examination. This method is applied by examining and analyzing a number of variables to explain the possibility of potential relationships between variables. The research conclusion shows that the role of educational background and understanding of accounting is very important in increasing the accountability of a company's financial reports. However, most of PT MEGAS' financial employees have an educational background that is not appropriate to their field, which is not a problem for the company as long as they can work well and produce accountable financial reports. Of course, this is supported by the factor of understanding accounting. Even though the company does not require employees to have an in-depth understanding of accounting, this is not an obstacle for the company. The advice given is that it is hoped that companies can recruit employees who have a similar educational background and at the same time have mastery in accounting. The company should at least carry out training first if the company is still recruiting employees who are not in line with their work, this is so as not to burden the employees.
