Abstract
One of definitions of Islamic Economic expresses that Islamic economic aims to study and realize the human being prosperity (al-falah) achieved through organizing natural resources based on cooperation and participation. From the definition, Islamic Economic as previously mentioned above, Islamic economic issues are not merely islamic financial institution and islamic banking, but also concerning about all dimensions of economic problem of people including food insecurity and poverty issues. Global food crises occurred post 2008 have clearly figured out the susceptibility of food security of world countries not only in poor countries but also welfare countries. World Bank data shows that there are millions of hungry people everyday. Referring to FAO data, it is known that the buried countries in the world caused by food are primarily faced by Muslim countries. This research aims to study strengthening food security in Muslim countries and resolution mechanism. Food problem is a common problem that is difficult to be overcome by each country alone. That is why a cooperation mode becomes important to overcome food problem of Muslim countries. Food problem is economic problem both conventional and Islamic economic. A multitude of factors are expected to cause continued food price increases as evidenced by World Bank’s food price index in January 2011, which rose 29% above its level from a year earlier. From Egypt, Indonesia, Bangladesh, and Sudan, to Pakistan–many of the 57 OIC (Organization of Islamic Conference) member countries are facing some of the worst pains of this global food crisis. This study uses an approach of food management and integration patterns issued by Ernst B .Hass. The basic idea is an integration process to realize an effective "political community". In addition, by using a classification model of OIC member states based on the potential of natural resources, especially agriculture and food, this research aims to figure out a pattern of agricultural investment cooperation among Muslim countries. Finally, this paper provides a unique explanation of the OIC countries in terms of food resources and the possibilities of cooperation that can be done to overcome the food crisis and the Islamic world poverty.
