Abstract

This study discussed about the effectiveness of EdPuzzle to improve students’ writing on recount text. This problem happened frequently from the elementary school until the university level. Based on the problem, the question of this study was “How is the effectiveness of EdPuzzle to improve students’ writing Skill on recount text?”. This study chose the junior high school level as the research subject, because it had been measured that they had enough vocabulary and imagination to write a passage. According to that reason, the researcher tried to implement EdPuzzle to improve their writing skills, but it just focused on recount text, because it was related to their experience and daily life. The Subject of this study was students from SMPN 1 Mojoanyar which was located on Jln Raya Mojoanyar no.2 Mojoanyar. Two classes (VIII A Class and VIII B Class) with 34 students each was used. These classes were chosen because the ability of these two classes was similar; it was proofed by the variance test (Levene’ Test). The data collection was applied by using pre-test and post-test. Students were asked to write the recount text and then it will be measured by using writing scoring rubric designed by James Brown. According to the paired T-Test and Independent Sample T-Test, it showed that class which used Edpuzzle had mean 86,00, while the class used conventional media had mean 82.32, it could be conclude that Edpuzzle media has a better effect than traditional media.
