Abstract

This study aimed to describe forms of interference of Madurese language in English as a second language they are learning in pare. This study is done also to find out the types of errors as a result of interference of Madurese language found in their daily conversations and the factors that have influenced.
The method used is qualitative method. Data collection technique is using the documentation by interviewing and recording the English students of Madura who live and study in Pare. This method used to answer the phenomenon of interferrence which occurs there.
The study concluded that the English they mastered was much influenced by the Madurese language. Interference that is found is in the form of phonological interference caused by changes in the sound. The second form is morphological interference caused by additions of affixation to the vocabulary of English as second language. Likewise with syntactical interference is in the form using the first language rules that is used in their English.
Based on the discussions, there are some efforts the students do to minimize the interference such as reading English novels; watching English films; listening to English songs, and also memorizing idiom, etc. From the result, it could be seen that their mother language interferences their English in their daily conversation.
