Abstract

A language test is a tool to measure students' language ability. Based on the method test is divided into paper-based test and computer-based test. One kind of computer-based test is an online test. To measure the students' ability, the teacher or assessor requires to design a test. Nowadays, some teachers face difficulty when designing a test, especially in an online test. To give other teachers an overview and knowledge about designing an online test, the researcher wants to find out the considerations of teacher MA Darul Ulum, Waru, about designing the online test. Here, the researcher interviewed three teachers of MA Darul Ulum, who designed an online test. The finding showed that the teachers considered eight elements, namely: the test technique, the description of the test taker, the difficulty level, the suitability of the material, the evaluation of the test, attachment of the picture, audio, and video, the compatibility of the platform, the accessibility of the platform. Thus, this study's result is hoped to contribute to the English test teachers develop, and future tests are expected to be more reliable, valid, and practical.
