Abstract

This research analyses the figurative language in the song lyrics from the album "Solipsism". The researcher conducted research using theory by Abrams. This research aims to find several signs of lyrics that are detected. Apart from that, it also detects the intent of placing lyrics that contain figurative language. The researcher applied a descriptive-qualitative approach in this analysis. The researcher analyzed the meaning cues of each song on the album "Solipsism" and several words that appeared in the song lyrics. In this research, the researcher found 6 signs of figurative language from the album "Solipsism". Solipsism has 11 songs in it, which are entitled Queen of the Hearts, Intentions, Be My Friend, Live Forever, Deeper, Be Okay Again Today, Higher Than Ever, Riding the Wave, Still Can't Call Your Name, I Don't Wanna Be Alone, Closure. The figurative language from Abrams theory is Simile, Hyperbole, Metaphor, Personification, Onomatopoeia, and Allusion. All the song lyrics listed on the Solipsism album have various meanings in life. The lyrics with the titles Closure and Still Can't Call Your Name tell the story of a sad romance. Meanwhile, the lyrics of the songs entitled I Don't Wanna Be Alone, Deeper and Queen of the Hearts tell a love story full of happiness. The song lyrics about fighting for love and compassion are in Intentions. Songs about life's struggle are entitled Be Okay Again Today, Higher Than Ever, Live Forever, and Riding The Wave. The song Be My Friend tells the story of the meaning of friendship. From these findings, it can be concluded that life has various characteristics. There are joys and sorrows, but that is the reality and must continue to be fought.
