Abstract
The practice of illegal logging has become a discussion on the global agenda where a Forest Law Enforcement Governance and Trade (FLEGT) program was designed to address the issue. The FLEGT program is implemented by FAO to assist countries in the world in dealing with the issue of illegal logging. However, in its implementation, Indonesia is the only country that is able to implement the FLEGT program even though it once had a history as the largest producer of illegal timber in the world. This study will examine how Indonesia and FAO's effort to implement the FLEGT program cooperation in Indonesia in 2018-2020. The research method used in analyzing the phenomenon in this study is a qualitative-descriptive method with documentation data collection techniques. The results of the study found that FAO’s efforts to implement the cooperation were conducted through direct assistance (DA) and calls for proposals (CfP) scheme while Indonesia's efforts were conducted through strengthening regulations in the forestry sector which changes and issuance of several ministerial regulations and circular letters, optimization of SVLK operations especially in the FLEGT license transition and improvement of the SILK portal, as well as the implementation of JEM and JIC as a means of coordination to convey achievements, obstacles, and lessons learned from the implementation of SVLK in an integrated and measurable manner between the parties involved.
