Abstract

The aim of this study was to determine effectiveness of playing the role of media puppets in improving children's oral language. This research is a quantitative research using experimentation. Instrument the form of a play and the observation sheet spoken language skills of early childhood. Research subjects included 30 children with inclusion criteria 5-6 years old, healthy, research using the technique of random assignment. Selection of a theme plays through preliminary research on 34 children who had the same inclusion criteria as the study subjects. Validity test using CVR plays with 6 experts with the acquisition of 0.71. The result is > 0.50, so that decent script used in the role of media puppets for early childhood. Validity test using CVR the puppets plays with 3 experts with the acquisition 0,50. The result is > 0.50, so that decent the puppets used in the role of media puppets for early childhood. Assay used is the observation sheet spoken language skills which consists of 7-item using alternate scoring 4 (1 to 4). The analysis showed the average inter-rater agreement of 0,940, so that the assay can be used as a measurement of the ability of oral language early childhood. The results using analysis techniques Independent-samples t test with significance level of 0.000 < 0.05, because it is smaller than 0.05, then Ho is rejected and Ha accepted. Differences in the average value of the acquisition of the control group at 0,4733, the smaller than the average value of the acquisition of the experimental group at 0,8427, meaning that there are differences in oral language abilities between control and experimental groups. Results showed playing the role of media puppets is effective in improving the ability of oral language of early childhood.
