Abstract
The distinctive feature of higher education depends partly on the quality of its lecturers. Attempts have been made to increase the competency of lecturers, one of which is to urge them to do further formal study formally. This formal model of development, which may be an indicator of such a quality, might well be less influential to the actual process of increasing the quality of the student when the highly educated lecturer did not teach well. Thus it is necessary to search a teaching model at higher education by exploring characteristics which apply to the competent lecturers, on assumption that the quality of teachers at higher 'education can be developed and must be developed. Numerous research on effectiveness of teaching has reported consistent results as to what constitute good teaching. The different result may be because of the methodological differences. (Red.)
