Abstract
The purpose of this thesis was to find out the relationship between emotional intelligence and internet addiction to whatsApp and Instagram users. This research is included in the correlation study using data collection techniques in the form of Internet Addiction Test (IAT) and Emotional Intelligence Scale (EIS). The sample in this study amounted to 265 people from the total population of 17,246 people from all students at the State Islamic University of Sunan Ampel Surabaya taken based on Proporsional Random Sampling techniques. The results of this study indicate that simultaneously there is no significant relationship between emotional intelligence and internet addiction on whatsApp and instagram users. That is, based on the results of this study emotional intelligence does not play an important role in relation to the intensity of internet use in students or it can be concluded that emotional intelligence does not have a large influence on internet addiction in State Islamic University of Sunan Ampel Surabaya students.
