Abstract

This thesis is entitled "Architectural History of the Miftahul Huda Mosque in Balun Village, Turi District, Lamongan Regency (1968-2021)". This study focuses on three problems, namely: (1) How is the history of the establishment of the Miftahul Huda Mosque in Balun Village, Turi District, Lamongan Regency. (2) How is the architectural development of the Miftahul Huda Mosque in Balun Village, Turi District, Lamongan Regency. (3) What is the meaning of the architecture of the Miftahul Huda Mosque in Balun Village, Turi District, Lamongan Regency. The method used in this thesis is a historical research method with four steps, namely heruistic (data collection), verification (source criticism), interpretation (source interpretation), and historiography (historical writing). Then, the approach used in this research is a historical or historical approach and cultural anthropology. The historical or historical approach is used to describe an event in the past, while cultural anthropology is used to observe the creations and human works of the object under study. In addition, there are two theories to facilitate the completion of this thesis, namely the theory of continuity and change according to John Obert Voll and cultural interpretation according to Clifford Geertz. The results of this study can be concluded that: (1) This mosque was founded by Muslims in Balun Village in 1968. Miftahul Huda Mosque is the center of the development of Islam among religious pluralism in Balun Village. (2) The Miftahul Huda Mosque underwent three stages of development, starting from the house which was renovated into a mosque, the construction of the foyer and the construction of the tower. (3) In the construction of the Miftahul Huda Mosque, it has several implied meanings through the shape of the building.
