Abstract

Al-Quran is a guideline for Muslims in the world and it is obligatory for us to study it. It is better if educating children to learn Al-Qur'an can be started from an early age in order to understand the Qur'an, especially for children with special needs such as mentally retarded children, they must get academic education and diversity. However, many children cannot read the Qur'an. This study aims to determine: The implementation process of the Tilawati Models in learning the Al-Qur'an for mentally retarded children at Sekolah Luar Biasa YPAC Surabaya, the Evaluation System in the Implementation of the Qiro'ati Method in learning the Koran in mentally retarded children at Sekolah Luar Biasa YPAC Surabaya. Malang, the implications of the application of the Tilawati Models in learning the Koran for mentally retarded children at at Sekolah Luar Biasa YPAC Surabaya. This study uses a qualitative approach with descriptive-qualitative research types and uses descriptive methods. The results showed that: The process of implementing the Tilawati Models in learning Al-Quran for mentally retarded children at Sekolah Luar Biasa YPAC Surabaya is made into one class with normal children, but differentiated in the way of teaching Learning for mentally retarded children takes a long time, this learning uses classical and individual methodologies. The evaluation system in the implementation of the Qiro'ati method is an evaluation of learning every day and an evaluation of the increase in volume. The implication of applying the Qiro'ati Method can improve the ability to read the Al- Qur'an well, according to the knowledge of tajwid, makhorijul khuruf, memorizing short letters, and daily prayers.
