Abstract
This research examines code-mixing in the “Kuliah ke Luar Negeri Itu Perlu Gak Sih?' by Puella ID” Talkshow. The research aims to address the following research problems: (1) What are the types of code-mixing occurred in conversations between Cinta Laura and Maudy ayunda in “Kuliah ke Luar Negeri Itu Perlu Gak Sih?' by Puella ID” ? (2) What are the reasons of Cinta and Maudy mix codes in their conversation in “Kuliah ke Luar Negeri Itu Perlu Gak Sih?' by Puella ID”? (3) How did the use of code-mixing affect the communication between Cinta Laura and Maudy Ayunda? A descriptive qualitative technique is used in this investigation. Hoffman's theory is used to analyse data on the forms and causes of code-mixing, while Spice's framework is used to analyse the effects of code-mixing. Cinta Laura and Maudy Ayunda's statements and the background material pertaining to their talk show statements comprise the two categories of the gathered data According to the study's findings, Cinta Laura and Maudy Ayunda use three different kinds of code-mixing, totalling 66 occurrences. These comprise five examples of involved change of pronunciation, 52 cases of intra-sentential code- mixing, and 9 cases of intra-lexical code-mixing. Five causes for code-mixing were also discovered by the researchers: addressing a particular subject, highlighting a point, employing interjections, repeating to explain, and elaborating speech content for the interlocutor's comprehension. This study did not include two explanations: expressing group identity and citing someone else. The study also shows that code- mixing affects communication between Cinta Laura and Maudy Ayunda by demonstrating bilingual identification, emphasising prominence, elaborating and clarifying concepts for improved comprehension, and describing present situations or states. Drawing from the results, the researcher deduces that Cinta Laura and Maudy Ayunda use code-mixing for reasons and kinds consistent with Hoffman's theory, while also taking Spice's theory into account to see how it affects their communication.
