Abstract

Learning using YouTube is very beneficial for teachers and students. This research was taken in several schools in Lamongan. This study uses a quantitative method that aims to find out the reasons why teachers choose YouTube as a learning medium for English and to find out the problems that teachers might face when using YouTube for learning English. Questionnaires were distributed to all English teachers in each school and selected a representative from each school to conduct an interview. From the results, it can be seen that YouTube is a media platform that provides up-to-date and interesting information and contains high-quality content, good pictures, videos, and clear sound. Therefore, YouTube is easier and more enjoyable. In addition, by using YouTube, teachers can create their learning materials on YouTube, and can also ask students to create their project assignments and then upload them on YouTube. To manage a good organization in the classroom, the teacher also asks students to comment and discuss with each friend or teacher to build student interaction. That way, students will be able to relieve their anxiety and increase their confidence. Some problems are also experienced by teachers in using YouTube, such as obstacles when accessing the media, this can be anticipated by teachers by preparing backup data and ensuring that the connection data used must be fast and in good condition before accessing YouTube. Adjusting the material on YouTube with the learning goals that have been set in the classroom is also a problem that teachers often face, but this can be handled well by the teacher. Before choosing the right YouTube, they will adjust to the KI KD, learning objectives, student level, and the material in the book.
