Abstract

The 2013 Curriculum is the development and improvement of the former curriculum, which is called School Based Curriculum (KTSP). The development of this curriculum, both revise and accomplish the former curriculum, KTSP. In the implementation, not all schools implement the new curriculum. There are many changes as the consequence of the alteration. Islamic Education is also an important object of the curriculum change. Nevertheless, there are still many people who do not know the change. Therefore, the researcher does this research to find out the detail of the changes of the curriculum in Islamic Education and character building. The statements of the problem in this research is “How is the implementation of 2013 Curriculum for Islamic Education and character building in Senior High School in Bojonegoro which consists of planning, implementation, evaluation, principals and teachers’ efforts to succeed the curriculum and also supporting factors and obstacles of implementing the curriculum. The purpose of this research is describing the implementation 2013 Curriculum of Islamic Education in Senior High Schools in Bojonegoro. In this research, the researcher took two schools which have implemented 2013 Curriculum as samples, SMAN 1 Bojonegoro and SMAN 1 Dander. Research approach used in this research is qualitative descriptive study, kind of research which describes an object related with the problems being examined without questioning the relationships among research variables. The subject of the research are principals, vice principals, school’s stakeholder and students’ of the target schools. The techniques of data collection used are observation, interview and documentation. Research result shows that the Implementation of 2013 Curriculum of Islamic Education in these two target schools has been started since 2013. The principals’ efforts to succeed the 2013 Curriculum seen from their encouragement for teachers to join teachers associations, workshops or teacher coaching. While, the teachers doing so by adjusting teaching materials with the curriculum, make the students to become accustomed to do worship, guiding those who cannot read Al Qur’an yet, and following the principal’s recommendation. Supporting factors of Implementing 2013 Curriculum in these two schools are adequate facilities, and also competence teachers. On the other hand, there are some obstacles found in these two schools as the students’ lack of discipline to attend either inside or outside the classroom activity, also the lack of some parents’ attention to their children.
