Abstract

Childhood traumatic experience can influence the growth of children. How the trauma influence of children’s characteristic. The effects of childhood traumatic experience is portrayed in the novel entitled Fifty Shades Darker by E. L. James. From this point, this study reveals the characterization of the main character of this novel, Christian Grey, by using new criticism theory. The result of this study shows that the traumatic experience of Christian Grey in this novel makes him some bad characters, bossy, overprotective and sadist.
