Abstract

This research aims to describe the effort of Pencak Silat Tapak Suci Putera Muhammadiyah as a tool for strengthening cultural diplomacy in Egypt period 2015-2020. As a traditional Indonesian culture, Pencak Silat through Tapak Suci has become very popular among Egyptian people and has developed very rapidly compared to other countries. The descriptive qualitative research method is used to describe in detail the efforts that have been made by the Pencak Silat Tapak Suci Putera Muhammadiyah as a tool of strengthening Indonesian cultural diplomacy in Egypt. The data obtained in this study are secondary and primary data with data collection techniques in the form of interviews, literature studies, and internet-based searches. This study uses the concepts of cultural diplomacy and public diplomacy to describe the existing phenomena. The results of this study found that the efforts that had been made by the Pencak Silat Tapak Suci Putera Muhammadiyah as a tool for strengthening Indonesian cultural diplomacy in Egypt period 2015-2020 were 1) Opening Pencak Silat training for Egyptian in collaboration with the Attaché of Education and Culture, Indonesian Embassy in Cairo. 2) Held some Pencak Silat Tapak Suci performances. 3) Held some Tapak Suci championships.
