Abstract

The Design of Berbera Resort with Modern Islamic Architecture Approach in Somaliland, Africa" aims to conceptualize and develop a resort that harmoniously integrates contemporary architectural elements with traditional Islamic design principles. Berbera, a historic port city in Somaliland, presents a unique opportunity for architectural innovation that respects cultural heritage while catering to modern needs. This study explores the rich architectural history of Islamic design, identifying key elements such as geometric patterns, courtyards. It further examines how these elements can be adapted to create a resort that is aesthetically pleasing, functionally efficient. The research methodology includes a comprehensive review of literature on Islamic architecture, case studies of existing resorts in Islamic countries, and an analysis of the climatic, cultural, and social context of Berbera. The design process incorporates site analysis, user needs assessment, and conceptual development to ensure that the resort meets the expectations of both local and international visitors.
