Abstract

The necessity to produce a well-written text steers the students in seeking and gathering information with a wide reach. In order to do that, digital literacy and literature mining can be used to obtain and manage information. This study focuses on identifying students’ level of digital literacy and literature mining, and the correlation between digital literacy level and literature mining level for academic writing. This study employed a quantitative method specifically a correlation design by administering questionnaires to 42 students. The participants of this study were the students from the 8th semester of English Language Education Department. The findings showed that the students’ level of digital literacy and literature mining are high. The study also identified that there is positive correlation between students’ digital literacy level and literature mining level with Pearson coefficient value 0.612. This finding implies that the higher the level of students’ digital literacy, the more likely they have higher level of literature mining. Therefore, this can be a consideration for the lectures to encourage the students to have digital literacy and literature mining by facilitating and exposing them to different resources.
