Abstract
This study aims to describe the implementation of the Cooperative Learning Model of the Teams Games Tournament (TGT) type in enhancing students’ learning activeness in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) and Character Education at SMA Al Falah Ketintang Surabaya. The research focuses on the processes of planning, implementation, and learning outcomes, as well as their implications for improving students’ learning activeness. This study employs a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data collection techniques include observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis refers to the Miles and Huberman model, which consists of data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing, while data validity is strengthened through source and technique triangulation. The results of the study indicate that: (1) the planning of the TGT model is systematically arranged through the preparation of learning tools relevant to the objectives of Islamic Religious Education and Character Education; (2) the implementation of the TGT model is carried out effectively by integrating group discussions, educational games, and academic tournaments, thereby creating an active, collaborative, and enjoyable learning atmosphere. The implementation of the TGT model leads to an increase in students’ activeness in cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspects, such as the courage to ask questions, participation in discussions, the ability to express opinions, and the development of academic responsibility in completing tasks; and (3) the outcomes of the TGT implementation are conducted continuously through formative and summative assessments to ensure the achievement of learning objectives. This study concludes that the implementation of the TGT model contributes to the development of participatory and meaningful learning in Islamic Religious Education and Character Education, while also providing practical recommendations for teachers in developing innovative cooperative learning strategies oriented toward enhancing students’ learning activeness.
