Abstract
Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh masih rendahnya kemampuan membaca AlQur’an siswa sekolah dasar, khususnya pada aspek keakuratan makhraj dan kecepatan membaca. Meskipun metode WAFA telah diterapkan di SDIT Insan Permata Bojonegoro, hasil observasi menunjukkan adanya kesenjangan antara capaian kemampuan siswa dengan standar ideal. Hal ini disebabkan oleh pembelajaran yang masih bersifat prosedural dan belum sepenuhnya terintegrasi dengan prinsip neurosains yang menjelaskan cara kerja otak dalam proses belajar. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan desain metode WAFA berbasis neurosains, mendeskripsikan langkah-langkah pengembangannya, serta menganalisis efektivitasnya dalam meningkatkan kemampuan membaca AlQur’an siswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan penelitian dan pengembangan (Research and Development/R&D) dengan mengadaptasi model pengembangan yang meliputi tahap analisis kebutuhan, desain, pengembangan, implementasi, dan evaluasi. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas I–III SDIT Insan Permata Bojonegoro. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi, wawancara, dokumentasi, serta tes kemampuan membaca Al-Qur’an. Analisis data dilakukan secara kualitatif dan kuantitatif untuk mengetahui peningkatan hasil belajar siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa desain metode WAFA berbasis neurosains mengintegrasikan pendekatan multisensori yang mencakup aspek visual, auditori, dan kinestetik, disertai penguatan emosi positif serta pengulangan bermakna yang selaras dengan prinsip brain-based learning. Langkah-langkah pengembangannya mencakup model pembelajaran 5P, yaitu pembukaan, pengalaman, pengajaran, penilaian, dan penutup, yang diperkaya dengan aktivitas berbasis neurosains. Metode ini terbukti efektif dalam meningkatkan keakuratan makhraj dan kecepatan membaca Al-Qur’an siswa, yang ditunjukkan oleh adanya peningkatan signifikan antara hasil pretest dan posttest. Berdasarkan temuan penelitian, metode WAFA berbasis neurosains dapat direkomendasikan sebagai alternatif model pembelajaran membaca Al-Qur’an yang efektif, menyenangkan, dan sesuai dengan karakteristik perkembangan kognitif siswa sekolah dasar. Kata kunci: metode WAFA, neurosains, membaca Al-Qur‟an, keakuratan, kecepatan, pembelajaran multisensory This study is motivated by the low ability of elementary school students in reading the Qur’an, particularly in terms of makhraj accuracy and reading fluency. Although the WAFA method has been implemented at SDIT Insan Permata Bojonegoro, observations reveal a gap between students’ actual performance and the expected standards. This condition is attributed to instructional practices that remain procedural and are not yet fully integrated with neuroscience principles that explain how the brain learns. Therefore, this study aims to develop a neuroscience-based WAFA method design, describe its development procedures, and analyze its effectiveness in improving students’ Qur’an reading skills. This research employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach by adapting a development model consisting of needs analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation stages. The subjects of this study were first to third grade students of SDIT Insan Permata Bojonegoro. Data were collected through observation, interviews, documentation, and Qur’an reading tests. Data analysis was conducted using both qualitative and quantitative methods to determine improvements in students’ learning outcomes. The results show that the neuroscience-based WAFA method integrates a multisensory approach involving visual, auditory, and kinesthetic aspects, supported by positive emotional engagement and meaningful repetition in line with brainbased learning principles. The development procedures follow the 5P instructional model, namely opening, experience, teaching, assessment, and closing, enriched with neuroscience-based activities. This method has proven effective in improving students’ makhraj accuracy and reading fluency, as indicated by a significant increase between pretest and posttest results. Based on these findings, the neuroscience-based WAFA method is recommended as an alternative instructional model for teaching Qur’an reading that is effective, engaging, and aligned with the cognitive development characteristics of elementary school students.
