Abstract

This research explores the representation of power dynamics and resilience in Monica Lewinsky's 2014 *Vanity Fair* article, "Shame and Survival," focusing on how she constructs her narrative. Using a qualitative approach, the study involved systematically analyzing the article to identify discourses reflecting Lewinsky's intentions and experiences. The analysis categorized instances of discourse that highlighted her encounters with power dynamics and her resilience in overcoming challenges, identifying 13 significant data points. The findings suggest that Lewinsky's article acts as a reclaiming of her narrative in response to an older narrative that profoundly impacted her life, revealing recurring themes of shame, resilience, power structures, and the influence of media on personal lives. Ultimately, the study confirms that "Shame and Survival" illustrates the complexities of power and resilience as Lewinsky navigates the intense pressures of social and media scrutiny.
