Abstract

The speaking skill is one of the language skills that foreign language learners must be aware of it. Speaking is the main form of social communication, and the most important part of the language practice and its use. After the interview with the teacher, the researcher noted that students at Al-Amin Islamic Boarding School have problems in the practice of Arabic. Such as: lack of desire among students and the propensity to study Arabic language. There is a linguistic environment, but many students do not want to speak Arabic, but rather speak the traditional language and lack of appropriate books to teach Arabic.Based on these problems, the problem of this research is: How are teaching materials designed to improve speaking skills in the intensive Arabic language program at Al-Amin Islamic Boarding School ? How effective are teaching materials designed to improve speaking skills in the intensive Arabic language program at Al-Amin Islamic Boarding School ? The importance of this study is that this study should have a positive contribution to the teachers of the Arabic language in the preparation of materials in the teaching of the Arabic language. And that the educational material designed as a new tool will help students develop their proficiency and courage in speaking Arabic. And makes the teaching of the Arabic language interesting and attractive to them.This research use the experimental method, where the researcher choose thepre-test and post-test. The population of this research is from the fourth grade students, and the sample are30 students. The tools for data collection are: test, questionnaire and interview. The design of the teaching materials of the fourth grade at the Al-Amin Islamic Boarding School under the title "Let's talk Arabic". The book consists of ten lessons and each lesson contains introductory questions, dialogue, grammatical structures and the exam.Theresults of the expertsvalidation, the design of the book is good at 73%, which means that it can be used in teaching. Depending on the rate of results obtained by students in the pre-test 64 and post-test 78, the book is designed to be effective. Overall good and appropriate to the needs of students to improve their skills to speak. The result of questionnaire data with students, that the degree of approval is acceptable, and also interview data with the Arabic language teachers at the Al-Amin Islamic Boarding School. From these results it is clear that the teaching materials designed effective to a large extent to improve the skill of students to speak with the correct voices, appropriate vocabulary, using grammatical structures,and according to the Arab culture.
